We live at the top right hand of the country. In the far north of Scotland. Go to Aberdeen and turn left along the coast. Here the land is flat and fertile, the wind whistles off the North Sea, the sun shines and the beaches are vast and sandy. Here is where I make our delicious, homemade, healthy yogurt, rora dairy
Making healthy yogurt for ourselves and our two teenage boys seemed the most natural thing to do when surrounded by fields full of cows. Yogurt, like all dairy products, are known to be very good for us as they include protein, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin and Vitamin A amongst others… but did you know that grass-fed cows produce milk with more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) than conventional milk? CLA is linked to protection from colorectal and breast cancers, diabetes and heart disease. As our yogurt is made from milk from grass-fed cows, our yogurt is full of CLA. To make it extra delicious and healthy, I also choose to use pasteurised non-homogenised full fat milk. Pasteurised because the heat treatments kill the bacteria. Non-homogenised because our bodies are able to digest the fat in the milk much better than if it is forcibly mixed up. And full fat because we (and especially growing children) need fat for energy. As well as being good for us, our yogurt is also creamy, smooth and delicious.
It is so delicious in fact, that I decided to increase production and supply it to shops, cafes and hotels. It is 100% natural, home-made and we use purely Scottish ingredients. It has no additives, no preservatives and in its natural form, no sugar. Our honey yogurt includes only the delicious taste and sweetness of 100% pure Scottish heather honey and our soon-to-be-introduced fruit yogurt will be made with a reduced- sugar compote of fruit made from luscious Scottish berries.
You will find our yogurt is Simple Pure Scottish and we hope you love it.
